Hem-fir is renowned for its combination strength and beauty and used in the construction of residential, light commercial buildings, structural building components and a wide range of industrial applications. Canadian hem-fir is a mainstay of many builders because it is strong and lightweight. It has straight grain that resists spitting, holds its nail and screws firmly, relatively free of pitch and able to hold a variety of glues and adhesives.
